Preseason Training update

Our Pre-Season started back on Monday 7th December with the player and staff induction night held at the Blacktown Workers Club. The players and staff in attendance were extremely excited and enthusiastic to commenced training after the 2020 NSW Cup season was cancelled.

Pre- Christmas the football and medical staff did a fantastic job in preparing the players to commence training and playing after a long lay off. Carly Samford and Shaun Galligher headed up the Medical and High Performance departments, which play an integral role in screening the players for injuries, imbalances in their bodies as well as the appropriate prescription of training for each player.

The football coaching staff introduced the players back into the team training dynamic with competitive games, wrestling and defence sessions. We have focussed on the fundamental footballs skills of grip on the football, catch and pass, tackle, carrying the ball into contact and creating quick play the balls. The players have bought into the coaching staffs character building philosophy of working hard and doing the small components of training to the best of their abilities. ‘Make the line and don’t touch the poles.’

Post Christmas we have introduced some football strategy we believe suits our players style of play and have been integrating this strategy into our training with full team games that place players in a position where they can practice skills at game speeds.

The BWSE management team have been working over time to organise a safe environment for our players and staff in the current environment. Sonia Dorsett and Todd Darvall have organised an extremely effective Covid plan with players registering temperatures every training session before entering and following strict NSW Health protocols to ensure we continue training safely.

Brooke Barlow has completed the Covid check in for training and ensured a safe return to training for the workers. Sonia has also liaised with all players and helped players moving to the club or resigning at the club. Todd has been working overtime behind the scenes and we are excited to welcome Alex Hayman and the team from Alectrics Electrical Services who have come on as a new sponsor in 2021 and has purchased new tackle bags for the football department.

Gorilla Digital Marketing are also a new sponsor in 2021, we cannot wait to announce what Chief Silverback Andrew McKee and the team have been working on behind the scenes stay tuned!!

The Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles will continue building towards a big season for the football club on and off the field. We have big goals in 2021 and are all working relentlessly towards them. I would like to thanks all staff for their tireless efforts and support thus far.
